Lament

The boy cannot hope to grow
His heart will not let him
Deep with anguish and despair
He cries out for death!
Awakes with moans and begs
His son to forgive him
For leaving it all undone
And abandoning him to cope alone
with his own darkness,
Which will surely descend
As water flows.
His lament never ends.
Ring out-bring the pall bearers.
No one will grieve
Except the folded over bent double
Carcass, full of love and life
Twisted with age and pain;
She will weep
as the boy does
whose lament can never end.
