Evening Glow in Venice

A Painting by Shin-ichi Ikeda

I do not know how and from where it has come
That the letter of Naught means
The expression of love based on ruin and wealth
In the beginning of Chinese calligraphic history of thousands of years
It is a longsightedness of human wisdom regardless of east or west

At the bottom of the surface is put the jet-black of this shore
In the opposite bank is
The real black of the St. Marcodouje Cathedral there

The masts and towers
Perpendicularly thrust
The zenith

The ocean and sky dyed in orange color are
Worthy enough to decorate the ruin
That may be at the same time on someday in a faraway future
Connected to an unknown origin of the new world, however
How come the ruin is adorned in
Such a beautiful way!
