Varied Knowledge (1)
by Hideo Yokokawa
One day, a couple?years after graduating the
high school, I visited my teacher of English in
my high school days; whose dream, he had once
said during the lesson, was to enjoy reading
detective novels on a locking chair in front of
a hearth while smoking a pipe comfortably; said
to me like murmuring.
"Recently Ifm thinking what the knowledge itself
is"
This etched in my mind, and in the train back to
Tokyo from Matsumoto where he lived, an idea
occurred in my mind And, .I still remember that
I sent him a postcard in English, saying.
Knowledge itself simply remains as knowledge.
The true knowledge is the one backed by the
personality.
It is what happened almost a half century ago.
