Memories
Fading Away

In memory of Mary Rising Higgins
I was advised of
the death of Mary Rising Higgins
by Jeanne Shannon@who had attended her deathbed.
How many years since then?
Mary was an avant-garde poet who had been
seeking after the absolute sound of language
itself
and the sense and consciousness arising from
there.
She called it a sound of romance.
Feeling that I have to leave notes somehow or
other,
from time to time these days,
I took a pen to
record
something.
For my writing poems in English,
Mary was one of my teachers of the language.
She gave me a substantial acoustic sense of
English.
Here in my study,
a noble scent of white lilies in a vase is
wafting from the next room.
How many years since then?
