Poems of Samuel E. Stone

Halloween Night

Shadows dancing upon the wall,
in the cold misty moon lit night,
spooky figures standing ever tall,
created an eerie, Halloween sight.

The rustling noise of the leaves,
combined with the howling sound,
muffling the echo of distant pleads,
ghostly spirits lurking, so profound.

The moonlight shining across the sky,
piercing the depths of the nightfs dark,
could it be that someone will soon die,
as the spirits dance, leaving their mark.

These moments spent in sheer terror,
unknowns, compounds the mindfs fears.
death often brings itfs own pallbearers,
as silent cries bring mournful wet tears.

Upon the lonely eve of the hallow,
night of torment for the living dead,
shaking, too scared to even swallow,
you lie there still, alone, in your bed.
