Poems of Samuel E. Stone

Simplicity

Morning birds singing joyfully in the trees,
beneath the vast endless sky of velvet blue,
without a care, only themselves to please,
each and every day, always starts brand new.

Squirrels scamming upon the cold ground,
tending to all their needs and daily chores,
gathering up seeds and nuts from all around,
wide open spaces, where there are no doors.

Rabbits munching down on the green grass,
timid and afraid, constantly looking about,
knowing the peace and harmony wonft last,
danger comes in the silence without a shout.

Deer grazing in the soft meadows and fields,
possessing a wild essence beyond compare,
out in the open without a protective shield,
not even worrying if their life will be spared.

Creatures of nature going about their day,
living their lives as it was intended to be,
taking and giving in their own special way,
without hurting mother nature, or you, or me.
