Bewilderment

Drowning in a sea of lonesome fears,
your youth fades slowly into the wind,
reality of growing old brings the tears,
you stand alone burying your last kin.

Living our life is hard to say the lease,
a constant struggle around every turn,
wondering if death brings you peace,
experiencing so much, we never learn.

Memories linger in the blowing wind,
seeking refuge to find hope and strength,
but, no one survives the passage of time,
catching us all, near and far, at any length.

Searching, never finding what we seek,
wandering this cold earth so ever vast,
time consumes the strong and the meek,
for nothing but time itself, will ever last.

Misguided perception of what we need,
lives wasted trying to conquer an illusion,
in the final hour all that is left is our plead,
passing to the next realm in utter confusion.
