"Four Seasons" and Other Poems
Samuel E. Stone

Deep Forest

Deep in the woods far away from man,
silence echos ever so loud in the still,
strange magic lingering upon the land,
holding a majestic flair in the wilderness.

Order of peace lost in the absence of time,
where survival is met at whatever the cost,
the rules of engagement boggle the mind,
peace and harmony in an instant is lost.

The true face of nature is but a single one,
simply it is what it is, you are what you are,
each day’s struggle to live never to be done,
shadows cast upon the meadow, the sun afar.

Simplicity of living in a land of no tomorrow,
in the forest the harsh elements bring the cold,
life for the living in death there is in no sorrow,
to live as God intended is an act ever so bold.

I walked in the forest without a single clue,
overwhelmed by the beauty of such a sight,
meadows of green beneath the sky so blue,
creatures of nature watch hiding from sight.
