Changing Season

Leaves come fluttering to the ground,
as the wind rustled through the trees,
the color of Autumn is seen all around,
blending of green, yellow, orange leaves.

Sky over head in sobering shades of grey,
light sprinkle falls that could hardly be rain,
the weather has set in and surely will stay,
nights turn colder, one’s joints feel the pain.

Transition of season can be ever so bold,
one day wearing shorts and playing ball,
the weather so hot and the next it’s cold,
such is the drastic change summer to fall.

The season prepares us for the winter ahead,
giving time for our bodies to adopt and cope,
we don’t want to end up sick lying in bed,
a mild winter sometimes is our only hope.

Each new dawn brings even a shorter day,
night gets longer as the moon makes it pass,
wind and rain turns to an ice and snowy way,
Autumn is the changing season not meant to last
