Ten Fold

So many yesterdays have come and gone,
locked away in the corridors of your mind,
pleasurable moments now eternally gone,
fading so softly within the passage of time.

Ever living in fantasy dreams of tomorrow,
on the path traveled missing the present day,
aging we come to realize time is borrowed,
sadly we grow old before we find our way.

Love of want causes heartache and pain,
in a land filled with the have and have nots,
wandering with only ourselves to blame,
in the simplicity shrouded by earthly plots.

Grey shadows cast by the moon high above,
enhances self doubt, anxiety, and even fear,
binding our hearts from compassionate love,
leaving us with self pity, heartbreak and tears.

In the hourglass of time grains of sand fall,
the essence of our life is measured by living,
choose a path that leads to a gate not a wall,
and you will receive ten fold for your giving.
