Dreams and Schemes

Yesterdayfs forgotten schemes,
vanish in the still of the night,
replaced by tomorrowfs dreams,
hoping the future will be bright.

Happiness is built on onefs desire,
a mixture of fantasy and illusion,
while reality can be lost in the fire,
leaving us alone in utter confusion.

A wishing star falls from the sky,
moonlit shadows in rare descend,
whence it came we know not why,
separating the past from the present.

Place without answers where we live,
always thinking of now and just me,
forever taking but forgetting to give,
never becoming all that we could be.

Dreams and schemes drift to the shore,
we follow their lure wherever we go,
one day death will knock on the door,
capturing our spirit, itfs ice cold flow.
