Poems of Samuel E. Stone

Drifting Away

Drifting across the endless Sea,
elements of nature upon the door,
alone, scared for there is only me,
survival it?fs self is and act of war.

Blazing Sun high above over head,
the wind ever so hot it wants to burn,
wondering if by night you?fll be dead,
with no where to go, no where to turn.

Your lips burning from the salty air,
upon the water the whitecaps prance,
thinking it?fs more than one can bear,
pondering upon an old song and dance.

The day brings the cold of night,
wind that chills right to the bone,
a pale distant moon ever so bright,
the ocean sounds a musical tone.

Lost in reflection of your mind,
thoughts turn to mindful illusion,
you know it?fs a matter of time,
till you drift on in utter confusion.
