Life’s Constant Battle

This dangerous world never to be tamed,
struggling to survive in the life we share,
in the scramble it’s all part of the game,
fighting to protect those for whom we care.

The darkest nights can be forever black,
in the blindness we stumble and often fall,
searching deeply for the courage we lack,
afraid to journey down the lonely dark hall.

In the mist of confusion our mind’s in a whirl,
stopping to drink coffee from a special mug,
as danger lurks putting the spirit into pearl,
then without warning came a blow and a thud.

Bleeding profusely from a wound in the head,
one’s thoughts in the excitement trying to collect,
all the while wondering if we’ll soon be dead,
it was thought to be simple, to serve and protect.

Now threading to survive in the vast cold ocean,
deadly war of life show no human compassion,
just a constant struggle of violence in motion,
for raging hearts seeking wealth is all the fashion.
