Choices and Will

In this world of our wants and needs,
consumed with thoughts and desires,
we often ignore our own inner pleads,
being caught up in life’s burning fires.

Our bodies in conflict with our minds,
dos and don’ts leave us in utter confusion,
as reality and fantasy blend in passing time,
sadly becoming lost in our own illusions.

Life is a matter of choices and free will,
constantly searching just to find our way,
sometimes we’re so hot before a big chill,
never knowing whether to go or to stay.

Planning for the future we live in the pass,
we travel the passage of time ever so slow,
soon what we have is gone for nothing last,
left in the swarthiness searching for a glow.

Life’s adventures cause us fear and fright,
a quest for meaning in the struggle and pain,
in hopes we’ll find the brilliance of the light,
while feeling so all alone in the pouring rain.
