Haunting or Pleasant

Memories of yesterday fade in the dark of night,
leaving obscured images of that which once was,
as haunting moments seen flickering in the light,
why they appear you never know, just because.

We can not control those images of our dreams,
they just come at will when we’re sound asleep,
some romantic, others involving earthly schemes,
they can make us smile or they can make us weep.

In the land of dreams, reality blends with illusion,
captured moments flash beyond the barriers of time,
in a place that seems so real yet hold such confusion,
defying logic while making perfect sense in our mind.

Dreams take us to a magical land of make believe,
where our limitations exist without any real bounds,
discovering the fantasy of the truth we often conceive,
and people will shout without ever making a sound.

In life we face survival each and every single day,
whether it be while at work, or while in joyful play,
but dreams allow us examine what comes our way,
they can be haunting or pleasant but never do stay.
